The Rafah Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Wefaq Association for Women and Child Care have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at strengthening cooperation in the fields of economic empowerment, support for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and the empowerment of women entrepreneurs, contributing to sustainable economic development and creating new opportunities across the southern and central areas of the Gaza Strip.

The MoU was signed on behalf of the Rafah Chamber of Commerce and Industry by Mr. Abdullah Madi, Acting Chairman of the Chamber, in the presence of Mukhtar Sami Foujo, Member of the Board of Directors and Chairman of the Commercial Arbitration Committee, and Mr. Ayad Abu Taha, Director General of the Chamber.

On behalf of the Wefaq Association for Women and Child Care, the agreement was signed by Mr. Ashraf Yousef, Chairman of the Board of Directors, in the presence of Ms. Buthaina Soboh, Executive Director of the Association, and Mr. Ahmad Abu Sultan, Projects Manager.

The Memorandum aims to strengthen collaboration between the two organizations through the exchange of expertise and information related to labor market needs and available career opportunities in support of development programs. It also includes the nomination of a number of small and medium-sized enterprises from various sectors—particularly the productive, industrial, service, commercial, and agricultural sectors in the southern and central Gaza Strip—to benefit from the Corporate Economic Empowerment Project, in accordance with the mutually agreed selection and eligibility criteria.

The agreement also provides for cooperation in delivering support and assistance to women entrepreneurs, enhancing their opportunities to develop and expand their businesses, thereby improving their economic capabilities and contributing to sustainable development.

Both parties emphasized that this partnership reflects their shared commitment to strengthening cooperation between the private sector and civil society organizations, unifying efforts to support entrepreneurial projects, empower entrepreneurs—especially women—and contribute positively to the local economy.
