The Rafah Chamber of Commerce and Industry participated in a workshop entitled “Gaza’s Recovery and Reconstruction – Consultations and Discussions,” organized by the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation in collaboration with the United Nations and its agencies, including the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), with the participation of international institutions, government bodies, and representatives of the private sector.

The Rafah Chamber was represented by Engineer Haitham Abu Taha, Head of the Economic Committee, and Professor Ayad Abu Taha. Participants discussed economic recovery strategies, reconstruction mechanisms, and the role of the private sector in reviving commercial and industrial activity. They also explored mechanisms for financing small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and attracting investment in infrastructure projects.

During his intervention, Engineer Haitham Abu Taha emphasized that maintaining the ceasefire and ending the Palestinian division are fundamental to creating a stable environment capable of reviving the economy. He stressed the importance of establishing an independent financial fund to support small and emerging projects, considering them the main engine of economic development.

At the conclusion of the workshop, participants recommended the urgent opening of crossings and facilitating the movement of people and goods, as well as the immediate entry of raw materials, as a crucial step towards initiating economic recovery. They also recommended providing urgent support to SMEs and establishing an independent reconstruction authority.
